Mercillia, "When judgment meets truth" is a novel filled with heart. Its main character; Kellen McDaniel is a young man who has turned his back on his first love; God. He sets out to live life on his terms and finds out that his ways have exposed him to HIV and various trials and tribulations that have brought him to his knees crying out to God. His return to God does not redeem him from his responsibility to clean up the mess his has made of his life and his first assignment must begin with Mercillia. She is an unexpected addition to his life that was produced as a result of a night of drinking with his friends. Although he realizes that it is his responsibility to correct his irresponsibility he is sidelined by the sudden course of events that will shake his faith and severe his family.

Kellen experiences heartache in a way that tears at his soul. His father and brother attempt to comfort him but there is little that they can offer to alleviate the depth of pain. Mercillia struggles with her own soul wrenching secrets that bring her to the brink of insanity. And while Kellen has committed to love her unconditionally he is beginning to break under the pressure of his own family issues. The family and the church that he once counted on are no longer means of support for him. And he finds himself with no other refuge except the arms of God.

When family secrets are exposed and the truth is revealed Kellen and Mercillia are both drawn into a deeper relationship with God and each other. As God unravels the past and propels them into their future they are transformed from at state of brokenness to breakthrough.
